The Prophets: Love Notes & Wake-Up Calls

prophets_mango

Picture a 6’3″ bearded man in Carmen Miranda regalia.

Fruit-decked hat. Ruffled dress. Chest hair spilling over the top.

He walks onstage and hands me a mango and a love note… This and more in my sermon on Hosea and the role of the prophets. Give it a listen here.

(I’ve got no clerical credentials, BTW–I just like to nerd out with holy scriptures. And the rock ‘n’ roll staff at True North Community Church, in their madness, occasionally invites me do this publicly. Anyway, this one was a lot of fun.)

I loved hearing this Jen. You really do have a knack for both story telling and bringing the message home……….This sharing was something I believe that most people can relate to. You made it real and reaching into the Word, and finding a story to parallel the message of God’s love, and how it is the REAL refresher………..the flavor and vitality that never leaves you crashing……….just knowing it is zenith. You want more, you find out God delivers and it is you who are blessed and you see the miracle in that. If that happens just once in life, it sustains……..but when as you suggest, we pray for more, and we listen for it, look to see it, every day, we can find the instances. Those are the sparks that light our pilot light……..and allow us to make soup even in the dark……even when we can’t figure out where the ingredients are coming from.

I miss seeing you – but love hearing your voice and your lovely messages. I really enjoyed this talk. So happy for you and your family with the new life. Hehehehehe. It will be so much fun to meet Milo and I hope you and Rob and Charlie and Milo are having a wonderful summer. The great renewal in my book! Hehehehe. God is EVERYWHERE!

Have you been to the beach yet? I have been recovering from my life-saving surgery last October, and am really feeling great again – I tire easily but am able to do more of what I love – in the little garden jobs I have as well as my creative juices rising again. I want to get into writing myself, as well as return to some of my passions – textiles and embroidery and ornamental crafting. I see a way I might sustain myself in “old age” hehehehehehe. Seriously – I hope to see you in the near future one of these days. You look/sound great from FB – and I send love and hugs to you.
    Enjoy this beautiful day!

Seriously – I look forward to the time our paths may cross in the near future. Do you ever go over to the Friary? I have been kind of overwhelmed with Mom care but now hope to be able to visit the Brothers more, as the family has finally been granted live in home health care. You look/sound great from FB – and I send love and hugs to you.
    Enjoy this beautiful day!
