About

About

My writing has appeared (or is forthcoming) in The Common, The Missouri Review, The Southampton Review, Image Journal, Consequence Magazine, Cordella, Cactus Heart, Print Oriented Bastards, and elsewhere. My novella, A Fortune, was published in Big Fiction in 2014.

I earned my MFA in Writing and Literature (2012) at the Bennington Writing Seminars, where I was a Liam Rector Scholar. I was also a 2017 Sustainable Arts Fellow at Rivendell Writers Colony.

I’ve written a novel about tattooing with illustrations (currently seeking representation). I write essays and stories; I review books; occasionally I make a little music or deliver an unconventional sermon for those (like me) who waffle between the skeptics and the mystics.

I’ve supported my novel-writing habit by

  • working as a peace-and-justice organizer in Washington, DC;
  • starting a one-woman web design business;
  • writing hundreds of anonymous weekly articles for the Bennington College website, and
  • making art, fostering community and teaching at a funky nondenominational church.

I’m  married to the talented and bearded Rob Hinst. We live with our young sons Charlie and Milo on Long Island.

Social media thingies: I’m on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Or just email me the old-fangled way.
